Putin and Yuschenko have agreed the collaboration

Presidents have agreed the humanitarian collaboration. In the negotiations Presidents of Russia and Ukraine Vladimir Putin and Victor Yuschenko discussed the humanitarian collaboration and the range of joint actions in the cultural domain.

“We understand clearly that the level of the liking and respect of our brotherly nations is high”,   told President of the Russia at the press conference after the negotiations with Victor Yuschenko. He expressed confidence that the common celebration of 200th anniversary of the writer Mykola Hohol in 2009 will equally significant.

In addition, both parties have agreed to discuss the joint actions to celebrate the 1020th anniversary of the Baptism of Rus in this year and the 300th anniversary of the Battle of Poltava in next year.

“I am sure that the realization of these and others plans will enrich the positive agenda of the humanitarian collaboration between our countries”,  told Putin.

We would remind you that by Mykola Hohol’s 200th anniversary Ministries of Culture of Russia and Ukraine will prepare the range of joint actions. In September last year the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved the programme of the celebration Mykola Hohol’s 200th anniversary and charged to Ministry of culture to establish the Hohol literary and art award over a period 2008 year and also to create the electronic bibliographical database of the Hohol’s works in the founds of the library of Ukraine, to develop and approve the tourist itinerary “The Hohol’s ways of Ukraine”.
